Bad Hofgastein – Great Ski Holidays in Austria
Bad Hofgastein is an Austrian ski resort with Austrian amenities—nothing short of panoramas, great restaurants, extraordinary skiing and interconnectivity between ski areas. Bad Hofgastein (Salzburg airport is less than 90 km away) has great skiing access within the whole Gastein ski area; Bad Hofgastein proper has over 175 km of ski runs while the Gastein ski area compromises another 102 separate pistes. Most of the skiing is above the 2000 meter mark, so most of Bad Hofgastein is snow-sure with the all inclusive lift pass giving snowboarding and skiing access to Sportgastein, Graukogel, Dorfgastein and Bad Gastein. There are 300 snow cannons spread up and down the slopes, so almost 100km of ski runs can be doused in buckets of snow should Mother Nature relent. The biggest vertical drop is 1455 meters with one slope going for 7.8 km. A drag lift (7), chair lift (7), cable car (3) and gondola (2) serve all of Bad Hofgastein when the crowds get big. Cross-country and skate cross-country skiing is all possible; with the former having 35 km and the latter having 10 km. Snowboarding is mostly found in the Funpark Boarders Paradise in Dorfgastein – Grossarl link. The center of Bad Hofgastein is pedestrianized, so aprčs ski rambunctious-ness won’t get any one injured by oncoming traffic.
Bad Hofgastein Accommodation: Bad Hofgastein is over-run with luxury hotels. Finding Five Star lodging here is not difficult if pre-booked. Many of the best deals are found online, with discounts given to those staying for seven or more days (low season). Additionally, apartments, chalets and “palaces” make staying here affordable for budget and bountiful spenders.
